1. Purchase an OBD-II scanner. You can find these online or at most auto parts stores.
2. Connect the scanner to your car's OBD-II port. This port is usually located under the dashboard, near the steering wheel.
3. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
4. Follow the prompts on the scanner to reset the check engine light.
