How do you take off the exterior door handle on a 1986 VW Cabriolet?

1. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the screw slot on the bottom edge of the door handle.

2. Turn the screwdriver clockwise to loosen the screw.

3. Pull the door handle straight out to remove it from the door.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the door handle.

5. To remove the door handle completely, remove the two screws that hold the handle in place.
