Start your vehicle and ensure that the transmission is in neutral.
Step 2:
Locate the four-wheel drive selector switch. On the 2002 Land Rover Discovery II, this switch is typically located on the center console, near the gear shift lever.
Step 3:
Turn the four-wheel drive selector switch to the desired position. The Discovery II has three four-wheel drive settings:
* 2WD: This setting is for normal driving conditions, when only the rear wheels are driven.
* 4HI: This setting is for driving on slippery or snowy roads. It engages the four-wheel drive system, but the transfer case is in high range.
* 4LO: This setting is for driving in extreme off-road conditions. It engages the four-wheel drive system and the transfer case is in low range.
Step 4:
Wait for the four-wheel drive system to engage. You will hear a slight clunk or clicking noise as the system engages.
Step 5:
Drive your vehicle in the desired four-wheel drive setting.
To disengage the four-wheel drive system, simply turn the four-wheel drive selector switch to the 2WD position.
Note: It is important to disengage the four-wheel drive system before driving on dry pavement, as this can damage the driveline.
