2004 Mazda MPV - Fuel Filter Replacement

CAUTION

Never loosen or remove and fuel lines or components with the ignition switch ON or the engine running. Gasoline is extremely flammable and ignition or fire could result. Relieve fuel system pressure before starting any operation near fuel lines or components.

Always wear eye protection when you work on or around any fuel lines.

NOTE

Always use a new filter when servicing the fuel system.

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.

2. Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Locate the fuel filter on the left, frame rail and disconnect the electrical connector.

4. Loosen the fuel line banjos to the filter head and allow fuel to drain into an appropriate container.

5. Using two wrenches, loosen and remove the fuel filter.

6. Inspect the fuel filter for dirt and debris.

7. Apply a thin coat of clean engine oil to the new filter's seal and threads.

8. Hand-tighten the new fuel filter into the head.

9. Connect the fuel lines and tighten the banjos.

10. Connect the electrical connector.

11. Lower the vehicle.

12. Start the engine and check for leaks.
