Materials Needed:
- Replacement turn signal bulb
- Flathead screwdriver
- Small Phillips-head screwdriver
- Rag
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Car: Park your car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Access the Turn Signal Light Assembly:
- Locate the turn signal light assembly on the side that needs the bulb replaced. It is situated in the housing on the front fender of the vehicle.
- Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the slot next to the assembly and gently pry it open by turning the screwdriver.
- This should release the assembly from its mounting clips and allow you to move it forward and away from the fender.
3. Remove the Old Bulb:
- Pull the wire clip back to disconnect the electrical plug.
- With a small Phillips-head screwdriver, unscrew the bulb holder.
- Once loose, gently pull the old bulb straight out from its socket.
4. Install the New Bulb:
- Push the new bulb into the socket and ensure it is seated properly.
- Replace and secure the bulb holder by screwing it back in.
- Re-insert the wire clip to reconnect the electrical plug.
5. Reassemble:
- Carefully slide the turn signal light assembly back into its original position.
- Make sure the mounting clips engage securely.
- Gently press the assembly into place.
6. Test the Light: Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position but do not start the engine. Activate the turn signal and ensure the new bulb is working correctly.
7. If it is working, turn the ignition key back to the "OFF" position and replace the cover.
Your 2005 Mercedes S500 turn signal bulb should now be replaced.
