How do you compress the rear brake caliper on a 2005 Volvo S40?

To compress the rear brake caliper on a 2005 Volvo S40, you can use a C-clamp or a brake caliper tool.

Using a C-clamp:

1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.

2. Chock the wheels to prevent the car from rolling.

3. Locate the brake caliper on the rear wheel that you need to compress.

4. Use a 1/2-inch ratchet and socket to loosen the two bolts that hold the caliper in place.

5. Do not remove the bolts completely - just loosen them enough so that you can move the caliper.

6. Use a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the piston back into the caliper.

7. Be careful not to apply too much pressure, as you can damage the caliper.

Using a brake caliper tool:

1. Follow steps 1-3 above.

2. Attach the brake caliper tool to the caliper.

3. Tighten the screw on the brake caliper tool to compress the piston back into the caliper.

Once you have compressed the piston, make sure that the brake pads are properly seated in the caliper and that the caliper is securely bolted in place.
