2. Remove the flywheel cover.
3. Rotate the engine until the piston on the right side of the engine is at top dead center (TDC).
4. align the timing marks. On the flywheel you should see a small notch near the top. There is a pointer or arrow that protrudes from the stator plate cover. These two marks (the notch and arrow) should be aligned when the piston on the right side of the engine is at TDC.
5. If the marks are not aligned, loosen the bolts that hold the stator plate in place and rotate the stator plate until the marks are aligned. Retighten the bolts.
6. Install the spark plugs.
7. Install the flywheel cover.
