Can you push an automatic trasmission in neutral to about one mile away?

It is not advisable to push an automatic transmission vehicle far, regardless of gear, as automatic transmissions require lubrication via running and moving oil. Pushing this way could starve critical components of needed lubrication that they rely on when running properly. Additionally, most new vehicles have electric steering columns and parking locks engaged when the car engine isn't running. This would make pushing an automatic extremely difficult even if lubrication weren't the issue.
