1. Remove the valve cover.
2. Set the piston of the cylinder you are working on to top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke. To do this, insert a long screwdriver or rod into the spark plug hole and turn the engine over until the piston reaches the highest point in its travel. The "T" mark on the camshaft should be aligned with the mark on the cylinder head.
3. Loosen the camshaft sprocket bolts using a 10mm socket.
4. Slide the camshaft out of the cylinder head and remove the camshaft chain.
5. Align the camshaft sprocket timing mark with the mark on the cylinder head.
6. Install the new camshaft chain.
7. Slide the camshaft back into the cylinder head and tighten the camshaft sprocket bolts to the specified torque.
8. Reinstall the valve cover.
Here are some additional tips for setting the cam timing on a GS450 Suzuki:
-Make sure that the engine is completely cool before you start working on it.
-Use a torque wrench to tighten the camshaft sprocket bolts to the specified torque.
-If the cam timing is not set correctly, the engine will not run properly.
