1. Park another vehicle with a good battery close to the Honda Shadow so that the jumper cables can reach both batteries.
2. Turn off the engines of both vehicles and apply the parking brakes.
3. Open the seat on the Honda Shadow to access the battery.
4. Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on both batteries. The positive terminal is usually marked with a "+" or "POS," while the negative terminal is marked with a "-" or "NEG."
5. Connect one end of the red (positive) jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the good battery.
6. Connect the other end of the red (positive) jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the Honda Shadow.
7. Connect one end of the black (negative) jumper cable to the negative (-) terminal of the good battery.
8. Connect the other end of the black (negative) jumper cable to an unpainted metal surface on the Honda Shadow's frame, away from the battery.
9. Start the vehicle with the good battery and let it run for a few minutes.
10. Try to start the Honda Shadow.
11. If the Honda Shadow starts, let it run for a few minutes before disconnecting the jumper cables.
12. Disconnect the jumper cables in the reverse order that you connected them: black cable from the Honda Shadow, black cable from the good battery, red cable from the Honda Shadow, and red cable from the good battery.
13. Close the seat on the Honda Shadow.
