How do you install the knock sensor in a 2000 Monte Carlo?

2000 Monte Carlo Knock Sensor Replacement

Tools Needed:

* 10mm socket

* Ratchet

* Extension

* 1/2-inch breaker bar

* Pry bar

Instructions:

1. Locate the knock sensor. The knock sensor is located on the driver's side of the engine, just below the intake manifold. It is a small, cylindrical sensor with a single wire connector.

2. Disconnect the knock sensor connector. Use a 10mm socket to loosen the bolt that holds the connector in place, and then pull the connector off of the sensor.

3. Remove the knock sensor. The knock sensor is held in place by a single 13mm bolt. Remove the bolt with an extension and a ratchet.

4. Inspect the knock sensor. The knock sensor should be clean and free of damage. If it is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

5. Install the new knock sensor. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the knock sensor, and then screw the sensor into the block. Tighten the sensor until it is snug.

6. Reconnect the knock sensor connector. Push the connector onto the sensor until it snaps into place.

7. Tighten the bolt that holds the connector in place. Use a 10mm socket to tighten the bolt until it is snug.

Tips:

* If you are having difficulty removing the knock sensor, you can use a pry bar to help you. Pry between the sensor and the block, and gently pry the sensor loose.

* Be careful not to drop the knock sensor. If you drop the sensor, it may be damaged and will need to be replaced.
