1. Head east from Los Angeles on I-10 E
2. Follow I-10 E to Barstow
3. Take CA-58E to Bakersfield. Follow CA-58E to CA-99 N.
4. Follow CA-99 N to Bakersfield, Fresno and Lodi
5. Take I-5 N from Lodi to Sacramento
Alternate routes include:
Along the Coast: Starting in Los Angeles, take the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1) north. This route takes you through Malibu, Santa Barbara, and Big Sur. It's a longer route and may take longer due to traffic, but offers beautiful coastal views.
Central Valley: Another option is to take the Interstate 5 (I-5) north. This route takes you through the San Joaquin Valley and past cities such as Bakersfield and Fresno. This is the fastest route.
