1. Turn the front wheels towards the curb (if parking on the right side of the road) or away from the curb (if parking on the left side of the road). This will help prevent your car from rolling in the event it slips out of gear.
2. Engage the parking brake. This will provide an additional layer of protection against your car rolling.
3. If you’re not sure if the pavement is slippery, leave it in first gear to keep it locked on a forward bias instead of neutral that allows all the cogs to roll free.
