You will need to:
- Make sure that the vehicle is in a roadworthy condition and has a valid MOT test certificate if it is over three years old.
- Declare any modifications or repairs that have been made to the vehicle that may affect its safety or legality.
- Display a 'For Sale' sign on the vehicle and provide contact details.
- Provide the buyer with the vehicle registration certificate (V5C), MOT test certificate (if applicable), and any other relevant paperwork.
- Receive payment from the buyer and sign the V5C to transfer ownership of the vehicle.
- Notify the DVLA of the sale within 14 days by completing a V5C/3 form and sending the form and the V5C to the DVLA.
