How to Change a 1990 Silverado Fuel Filter

The fuel filter on a 1990 Silverado is located under the vehicle, near the fuel tank. It is a cylindrical-shaped part with two fuel lines connected to it. To change the fuel filter, you will need a few tools, including a wrench, a screwdriver, and a new fuel filter.

Instructions

1. Park the Silverado in a safe location and turn off the engine.

2. Crawl under the vehicle and locate the fuel filter. It will be near the fuel tank, and it will have two fuel lines connected to it.

3. Use a screwdriver to loosen the clamp on the fuel line connected to the inlet of the fuel filter.

4. Pull the fuel line off the inlet of the fuel filter.

5. Use a wrench to loosen the clamp on the fuel line connected to the outlet of the fuel filter.

6. Pull the fuel line off the outlet of the fuel filter.

7. Remove the old fuel filter by unscrewing it from the fuel line.

8. Apply a small amount of petroleum jelly to the O-ring on the new fuel filter.

9. Screw the new fuel filter onto the fuel line.

10. Reattach the fuel lines to the fuel filter and tighten the clamps.

11. Start the Silverado and check for leaks.

- When changing the fuel filter, it is a good idea to inspect the fuel lines and replace any that are cracked or damaged.

- You may need to use a pair of pliers to help you loosen the clamps on the fuel lines.
