- A Torx T30 screwdriver
- A flat-head screwdriver
- A 10mm socket wrench
Instructions:
Step 1: Disconnect the battery. This is important to prevent the airbag from accidentally deploying while you are working on it. To disconnect the battery, open the hood of your car and locate the negative battery terminal (it will be marked with a "-"). Use a 10mm socket wrench to loosen the nut that holds the negative battery cable in place, and then remove the cable from the terminal.
Step 2: Remove the steering wheel. To remove the steering wheel, you will need to use a Torx T30 screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the steering wheel in place. Once the screws are removed, you can pull the steering wheel straight off of the steering column.
Step 3: Remove the airbag module. The airbag module is located behind the steering wheel. To remove it, you will need to use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the two clips that hold it in place. Once the clips are open, you can pull the airbag module straight out of the dashboard.
Step 4: Disconnect the airbag connector. The airbag connector is located on the back of the airbag module. To disconnect it, simply press down on the release tab and pull the connector apart.
Step 5: Reinstall the steering wheel. Once you have disconnected the airbag connector, you can reinstall the steering wheel. To do this, simply insert the steering wheel back onto the steering column and tighten the two screws that hold it in place.
Step 6: Reconnect the battery. Once you have reinstalled the steering wheel, you can reconnect the battery. To do this, simply reconnect the negative battery cable to the negative battery terminal and tighten the nut that holds it in place.
Note: If you are uncomfortable performing this procedure yourself, you can take your car to a qualified mechanic to have the airbag removed for you.
