_Note:_ Ensure the motorcycle is parked on level ground and the key is not inserted or in the 'On' position.
1. Locate the Battery:
- The battery is typically housed inside the left or right side cover, depending on your bike's specific model.
2. Remove the Side Cover:
- Unscrew and remove the side cover bolts using the appropriate tools (often, a hex key or socket wrench).
3. Disconnect Negative Cable:
- Identify the black (negative) battery cable.
- Locate the bolt or nut attaching the negative cable to the battery terminal.
- Use a wrench to loosen and remove this bolt or nut.
- Be cautious not to allow the wrench to come into contact with any other metal components, as this can cause a short circuit.
4. Disconnect Positive Cable:
- Now identify the red (positive) battery cable.
- Remove the nut or bolt connecting the positive cable to the battery terminal in the same manner as you did for the negative cable.
5. Remove the Battery:
- Once both cables are disconnected, carefully lift and remove the battery by its handle or terminals (usually covered).
6. Reassemble:
- To reinstall the battery, follow the above steps in reverse order, ensuring proper cable connections and secure fastening of the side cover.
Remember to dispose of the old battery responsibly, as it contains hazardous materials that should not be discarded with regular trash. Check local regulations for the appropriate battery recycling or disposal options in your area.
