Stock adjustment for Polaris 500 ranger carburetor?

Adjusting Polaris Ranger 500 Carburetor

The correct fuel adjustment setting is critical for the performance and fuel economy of your Polaris 500 Ranger. If the fuel mixture is too rich, it will cause the engine to run rough, stall, and use excessive fuel. If the fuel mixture is too lean, it can cause the engine to overheat, lose power, and backfire.

1. Loosen the Lock Nut.

- You will find the lock nut holding the adjustment screw (usually brass plated) in place on the upper left-hand side of the carburetor.

2. Turn the Adjustment Screw.

- Use a small flat-head screwdriver to turn the adjustment screw clockwise to lean out the fuel mixture or counterclockwise to richen the mixture.

3. Start the Engine.

- Start the engine and let it warm up for a few minutes.

4. Listen for the Engine's Sound.

- The engine should idle smoothly without any popping or backfiring.

5. Adjust the Screw.

- If necessary, adjust the screw until the engine runs smoothly.

6. Retighten the Lock Nut.

- Once the adjustment is made, hold the adjustment screw steady and tighten the lock nut to secure the setting.

Note: Each Polaris Ranger 500 may vary, so it is important to make small adjustments until the perfect adjustment is found.
