1. Turn off the motorcycle and allow it to cool down.
2. Disconnect the negative (black) battery terminal using the provided wrench or socket set.
3. Connect the positive (red) lead of the multimeter to the positive (red) terminal on the motorcycle's battery.
4. Connect the negative (black) lead of the multimeter to the negative (black) terminal on the motorcycle's battery.
5. Turn the motorcycle to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
6. The multimeter should display the battery voltage, which should be between 12.5 and 13 volts.
7. Start the motorcycle and allow it to idle.
8. The multimeter should now display a higher voltage, typically around 14 volts.
9. Rev the engine to about 3,000 RPM and observe the voltage reading on the multimeter. It should remain between 14 and 15 volts.
If the charging system is not working properly, the voltage readings will be outside the normal ranges indicated above. In this case, you will need to further troubleshoot the charging system components, such as the alternator, regulator/rectifier, and battery. It's recommended that you consult the workshop manual or seek assistance from a qualified motorcycle mechanic if you are not comfortable performing these checks yourself.
