How do you count the cylinders on a 98 Chevy Camaro?

The easiest way to count the cylinders on a 1998 Chevy Camaro is to check the engine's displacement listed on the vehicle identification number (VIN) plate or the engine block itself. The displacement (e.g., 3.8L, 5.7L) is strongly correlated to the number of cylinders. A 3.8L engine is a V6 (6 cylinders), and a 5.7L engine is a V8 (8 cylinders).

You can also visually inspect the engine bay, but this is less reliable and more dangerous (hot parts, moving parts) without experience. Counting from the top may be impossible depending on the engine covers.
