If your fuel pump isn't working, the problem likely lies elsewhere:
* Fuel pump relay: This is a common point of failure. You'll need to locate the relay (usually in the underhood fuse box) and check if it's functioning correctly. You can test it by swapping it with another relay of the same rating.
* Fuel pump itself: The pump may have failed. This requires access to the fuel tank to test and/or replace.
* Inert switch: Some fuel systems have an inertia switch designed to cut power to the fuel pump in a collision. This is usually located in the passenger compartment, under the dash, or in the engine bay. Check it to see if it's tripped.
* Wiring issues: A broken or corroded wire in the fuel pump circuit could be the cause. This would require tracing the wiring harness.
* PCM problems: In rare cases, a faulty PCM could prevent the fuel pump from activating. This is a more complex diagnosis.
* Low fuel: Make sure you have enough gas in the tank! The pump may not activate if the level is critically low.
Before tackling anything major, check the easiest things first—fuel level, inertia switch, and the relay. If you're not comfortable working with automotive electrical systems, take it to a qualified mechanic for diagnosis and repair.
