To check your oil level:
1. Park on a level surface and turn off the engine. Let the engine sit for a few minutes to allow the oil to drain back into the pan.
2. Locate the dipstick. It's usually a yellow or bright colored handle with a ring near the top. It's often located near the back of the engine. Consult your owner's manual if you can't find it.
3. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth, and reinsert it fully.
4. Remove the dipstick again. The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick. If it's below the minimum, you need to add oil.
