The 1997 Dodge Stratus requires
power steering fluid that meets Chrysler's ATF+4 specification. Do
not use just any automatic transmission fluid (ATF). While some ATFs might seem similar, ATF+4 has specific properties crucial for proper power steering function in this vehicle. Using the wrong fluid can damage the power steering pump and other components.
You can find ATF+4 fluid at most auto parts stores. Make sure the bottle clearly states that it meets the ATF+4 specification.
