What was the first motor car called?

There's no single definitive answer to what the very first motor car was called, as the development of automobiles was gradual, with many inventors contributing and different designs emerging simultaneously. There wasn't a sudden "invention" with a single, universally recognized name.

However, some of the earliest self-propelled vehicles often cited include those built by Karl Benz (Benz Patent-Motorwagen, often considered a strong contender for the *first practical* automobile) and Gottlieb Daimler. Neither had a name like "Motor Car" or a similarly simple designation. Their inventions were identified by patent numbers and descriptions of their technology.
