I thought a Chevy 350 bored 060 over was 383?

A Chevy small-block 350 cubic inch engine bored .060" over will not be a 383. The increase in displacement from boring is considerably less than you'd think.

While a .060" overbore increases the cylinder volume, it doesn't increase the stroke. The additional cubic inches gained are relatively small compared to the change needed to get to 383 cubic inches. A 383 is typically achieved through a longer stroke crankshaft.
