1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Locate the starter motor under the vehicle near the front of the transmission (it is attached to the transmission bell housing).
3. Disconnect the cable from the solenoid.
4. Remove the bolts holding the starter in place, and remove the starter from the vehicle.
2002-2010
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect the starter wire at the solenoid.
4. Support the transaxle with a jack and remove the left engine mount.
5. Remove the starter bolts and lower the starter out of the engine compartment.
