1. Park the car on level ground and turn off the engine.
2. Allow the engine to cool down for a few minutes.
3. Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located near the back of the engine, on the driver's side.
4. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a rag.
5. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid reservoir.
6. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. It should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
7. If the fluid level is low, add enough transmission fluid to bring it up to the "FULL" mark. Use a funnel to avoid spilling any fluid.
8. Reinsert the dipstick and close the hood.
