How do you release trunk with dead battery?

Releasing a trunk with a dead battery can be a tricky task, but it can be done. Below are a few methods you can try using if you find yourself in this situation:

1. Manual Trunk Release Lever: Many cars have a manual trunk release lever located inside the passenger compartment. This lever can usually be found under the steering wheel or in the rear footwell. If your car has a manual trunk release lever, pull it to release the trunk.

2. Override Button or Key: Some vehicles have an override button or key labelled as "valet" which usually located inside the center console or glove compartment. The valet key will fit in the trunk lock cylinder, press the override button or turn the key. Some models also have a secondary key slot in the trunk specifically designed for this purpose.

3. Fold the Rear Seats: If you can't find a manual trunk release lever, try folding down the rear seats (If applicable). This will allow you to access the trunk from the inside of the car. Some cars have trunks which are connected to rear seat and cannot be opened separately.

4. Reach under the Car: It's also worth checking underneath the car if your vehicle has a trunk latch access under the bumpers or lower parts of the rear. Some cars provide an accessible hole beneath the car's rear bumper. To operate it, look for a rubber cap near or in the center under the bumper. It may be hidden or tucked behind the bumper where you can place a screwdriver or thin object to press a release lever.

5. Power from Another Car: If you have access to another car with a working battery, you can try connecting jumper cables to the dead battery to supply power. Once the trunk is released, disconnect the jumper cables. This method may not work on some newer cars with advanced security systems.

If none of these methods work, you can call a locksmith or towing service to assist you in releasing the trunk. They will have the tools and expertise to safely open the trunk without causing any damage to your car.
