Where is the transmission dipstick located on a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu?

The 1998 Chevrolet Malibu does not have a transmission dipstick. The transmission fluid level is checked through a fill plug located on the side of the transmission. To check the fluid level, the vehicle must be level and the transmission must be in park. The fill plug is located on the driver's side of the transmission, near the top. It has a plastic cap that can be removed with your hand. If the fluid level is low, add enough transmission fluid to bring the level up to the bottom of the fill hole.
