When was car Drifting invented?
Drifting originated from Japan in the 1970s. It was inspired by the racing techniques used in hill climbs and rally racing, where drivers intentionally oversteered (turned the steering wheel in the opposite direction of the turn) to maintain higher speeds through corners. Kunimitsu Takahashi is considered the founder of drifting, as he was the first to use the technique consistently and effectively in Japanese racing. The sport gained popularity in the 1980s and 1990s with the rise of street racing and drifting competitions in Japan, before spreading to the rest of the world.
