1. Park the vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood of the vehicle.
3. Locate the transmission dipstick. It is usually a bright red or orange plastic handle located near the back of the engine bay.
4. Pull the dipstick out of the transmission and wipe it clean with a rag.
5. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission until it is fully seated.
6. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
If the fluid level is low, you can add more transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. Be sure to use the type of transmission fluid that is recommended in your owner's manual.
