The fuel filter for the 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport 3.9L is located on the driver's side of the vehicle, near the rear of the engine. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with two fuel lines connected to it. To access the fuel filter, you will need to remove the air intake hose from the throttle body. Then, use two wrenches to loosen and remove the fuel lines from the fuel filter. Finally, unscrew the fuel filter from housing.
1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.
3. Open the hood of your vehicle.
4. Remove the air intake hose from the throttle body.
5. Locate the fuel filter.
6. Disconnect the fuel lines by using two wrenches. One to hold the fitting in place and one to turn the connector.
7. Unscrew the fuel filter from the housing by turning it counterclockwise.
8. Install the new fuel filter.
9. Reconnect the fuel lines.
10. Reinstall the air intake hose to the throttle body.
