Step 2: Prepare the Vehicle
- Park your vehicle on level ground.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Allow the engine to cool down completely.
Step 3: Locate the Radiator Drain Plug
- Open your hood.
- Find the radiator drain valve, which is usually a one-inch bolt on the bottom of the radiator.
- Place a drain pan underneath the valve to catch the coolant.
Step 4: Drain the Radiator
- Remove the radiator drain plug using the wrench.
- Allow all of the coolant to drain from the radiator.
- Replace the radiator drain plug.
Step 5: Drain the Engine Block
- Find the engine block drain plug, which is usually a 3/8-inch bolt on the side of the engine block.
- Place a drain pan underneath the valve to catch the coolant.
- Remove the engine block drain plug using the wrench.
- Allow all of the coolant to drain from the engine block.
- Replace the engine block drain plug.
Step 6: Flush the Cooling System
- Turn on the water hose and spray water into the radiator until the water runs clear.
- Drain the water from the radiator.
Step 7: Refill the Cooling System
- Pour new coolant into the radiator until the radiator is full.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Turn on the heater to bleed the system.
- Check the coolant level and add more coolant if necessary.
Step 8: Dispose of the Old Coolant
- Recycle the old coolant according to local regulations.
- Do not pour old coolant down the drain or onto the ground.
