Car acts like it wants to stall after ac is turned on?

Possible causes:

- Low refrigerant: Ensure the air conditioning system has sufficient refrigerant. It is necessary to diagnose and repair the refrigerant leak source if it is low.

- Faulty compressor: The air conditioning system's compressor draws the majority of its power when it turns on. If the compressor is faulty, the engine may stall.

- Faulty/dirty idle air control (IAC) valve: The IAC valve regulates the amount of air that bypasses the throttle plate when the engine is idling. A dirty or faulty IAC valve can cause the engine to stall when the air conditioner is turned on.

- Vacuum leaks: Vacuum leaks can also cause the engine to stall when the air conditioner is turned on. Check for any leaks in the vacuum lines and repair them if necessary.

- Electrical problems: Electrical problems, such as a loose or corroded connection, can also cause the engine to stall when the air conditioner is turned on. Check the electrical connections to the air conditioning system and make sure they are tight and secure.

Diagnosis and repair:

- If the air conditioning system is low on refrigerant, it will need to be recharged.

- If the compressor is faulty, it will need to be replaced.

- If the IAC valve is dirty or faulty, it will need to be cleaned or replaced.

- If there are any vacuum leaks, they will need to be repaired.

- If there are any electrical problems, they will need to be repaired.

Prevention:

- To prevent the engine from stalling when the air conditioner is turned on, it is essential to keep the air conditioning system properly maintained. This includes:

- Checking the refrigerant level regularly and recharging it if necessary.

- Checking the compressor for any faults and replacing it if necessary.

- Cleaning or replacing the IAC valve as needed.

- Checking for vacuum leaks and repairing them if necessary.

- Checking the electrical connections to the air conditioning system and making sure they are tight and secure.
