* Privately owned
* Not part of a commercial enterprise
* Inoperable or otherwise unable to be driven on public roads
* Being towed by a vehicle that is registered and insured
* Displaying a valid temporary permit
The temporary permit must be obtained from the Michigan Secretary of State and must be prominently displayed on the rear of the unregistered vehicle. The permit will expire after 14 days.
In addition to these requirements, you must also comply with all applicable laws governing the towing of vehicles in Michigan. These laws include:
* The unregistered vehicle must be securely attached to the towing vehicle
* The towing vehicle must have sufficient power to safely tow the unregistered vehicle
* The driver of the towing vehicle must have a valid driver's license
* The towing vehicle must be equipped with safety equipment, such as flares and a fire extinguisher
If you violate any of these laws, you could be subject to fines, penalties, or even imprisonment.
