The electricity in the US is AC or DC?
In the US, the electricity supplied to homes and businesses is AC (alternating current). AC current periodically reverses direction, as opposed to DC (direct current) which flows in only one direction. The main advantage of AC over DC is the ease and efficiency of transforming voltage levels using transformers, which is essential for the efficient transmission of electricity over long distances. Furthermore, most electrical devices and appliances are designed to operate on AC power. Therefore, the US and a majority of the world use AC as the standard for electricity distribution and consumption.
