Can a car run without the alternator installed?

A car cannot run without its alternator installed. The alternator is primarily responsible for generating electric current to recharge the battery and power electrical components while the engine is running. Without a functional alternator, the battery will not be recharged once it is depleted, and the car's electrical systems will eventually cease to operate.

When the engine is not running, the battery provides the necessary electrical power to start the vehicle. Once the engine starts, the alternator takes over the role of generating electric current to meet the electrical demands of the car. It converts mechanical energy from the engine's rotation into electrical energy, which is then supplied to the battery and various electrical components such as lights, ignition, fuel injection systems, audio systems, and more.

If the alternator fails or is removed, the car will initially run on battery power. However, as the battery gradually depletes, the electrical components will start to lose power, and the vehicle will eventually come to a stop. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure the proper functioning and presence of the alternator in a car for reliable operation.
