1. Park your machine on level ground. Park machine at a flat location. Engage parking brake. Verify no one is around machine (especially children) before starting on this procedure.
2. Turn the master switch to the off position. Turn off engine or ignition switch.
3. Locate the 40XT Skid steer battery. Slide seat forward with seat adjustment lever. Slide seat towards center of machine. Lift seat up and tilt bottom part forwards 180 degrees. There are rubber bumpers underneath the seat that it can rest on or it can be hung from the headliner. You will then be able to remove the metal cover to access battery.
4. Disconnect the negative (-) cable before the positive cable (+). Remove negative terminal from battery first by unscrewing bolt. Remove positive terminal, after negative terminal is removed.
5. Lift battery out of battery compartment.
6. Replace the battery. Place the new battery in the battery compartment.
7. Reconnecting cables start by connecting the red positive terminal, and then place the black negative cable.
