1. Park your car in a safe location. Make sure the parking brake is engaged and the car is in "Park" (for automatic transmission) or first gear (for manual transmission).
2. Open the hood of your car. Locate the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on your battery. The positive terminal is usually marked with a red cap or a "+" sign. The negative terminal is usually marked with a black cap or a "-" sign.
3. Connect the jumper cables to the battery. Connect the positive (+) cable to the positive (+) terminal on your battery. Then, connect the negative (-) cable to the negative (-) terminal on your battery.
4. Start the working car. Turn the key in the ignition of the working car to the "On" position, but do not start the engine.
5. Wait a few minutes. This will allow the battery in the dead car to charge up.
6. Try to start your car. Turn the key in the ignition of your car to the "Start" position. If the car starts, remove the jumper cables in the reverse order that you connected them.
7. Let your car run for a few minutes. This will help to charge the battery even further.
8. Disconnect the jumper cables. Make sure the parking brake is engaged and the car is in "Park" (for automatic transmission) or first gear (for manual transmission).
