Unlike many other countries, in Portugal the Renault Twingo ZE is only available in two trim levels. Let’s see the official starting prices.

In Portugal, families can request a 3.000 euros subsidy to buy an electric passenger car, but only the first 700 candidates each year are eligible, which means that the subsidy only lasts for a few months. This year, the limit was reached in March…
Anyway, while the price of this small electric car with a WLTP range of 190 km seems absurdly high, with or without government subsidies no one pays the list price of a Renault electric car. Usually the discounts given by Renault are very generous.
For example, in Portugal the top-spec Renault ZOE Exclusive ZE R135 is advertised with a price of 36.189,99 euros, but it’s easy to find it at dealers with a price around 25.000 euros…
Therefore, I expect that Portuguese customers, even without government subsidies won’t have to pay more than 14.000 euros for this small, but competent electric car.
Moreover, in 2022 the Renault Twingo ZE will get a new generation, probably with more range and faster charging for a lower list price. This is another reason for Renault to give the current generation generous discounts.
I see the Renault Twingo ZE as a cheaper alternative to the FIAT 500 BEV, with extra doors to make it more practical in everyday use. Both have the cute factor.
