How do you remove shifter on Mercedes c230?

1. Park the vehicle in a safe location and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake and open the hood.

2. Locate the shift linkage. The shift linkage is a metal rod that connects the gearshift lever to the transmission. It is located under the hood, near the back of the engine.

3. Disconnect the shift linkage. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the shift linkage to the transmission. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the engine compartment.

4. Remove the gearshift lever. Use a screwdriver to pry the gearshift lever out of the console. There may be a small clip or retainer that needs to be released in order to remove the gearshift lever.

5. Disconnect the electrical connectors. There may be one or more electrical connectors that are connected to the gearshift lever. Disconnect these connectors by pressing the release tabs and pulling them apart.

6. Remove the shift boot. The shift boot is a leather or rubber cover that surrounds the gearshift lever. To remove the shift boot, simply lift it up and off of the gearshift lever.

7. Remove the shift knob. The shift knob is the round knob that you grip to shift gears. To remove the shift knob, turn it counterclockwise until it comes off.

8. Install the new shifter. To install the new shifter, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old shifter. Be sure to tighten all of the bolts and screws securely.

9. Test the new shifter. Once the new shifter is installed, test it to make sure that it works properly. Shift through all of the gears and make sure that the gearshift lever moves smoothly and without any binding.
