- Open the driver’s door of your C280 and look down under the instrument cluster/steering column.
- You will see the fuse box cover which is held in place by two plastic levers.
- Open the fuse box by pulling/detaching the plastic lever caps located on the sides of the fuse box cover and then lift it off.
- Once you remove the fuse box cover you will see the fuses neatly arranged on a fuse chart printed on the inner side of the cover.
- Locate fuse #20 (15A) with the label “Cig Lighter” near it. This fuse is responsible for your C280’s cigarette lighter.
Fuse replacement:
- Using a pair of needle nose pliers carefully pry up the defective fuse from its housing and discard.
- Replace the blown fuse with a new one of the same amperage (Amps). Avoid putting in a fuse with higher amps as it may damage the electrical components that it is connected to.
- Insert the new fuse by simply pushing it into the housing where the old fuse was.
- Snap the fuse box cover back into place and close the fuse panel’s door by snapping it shut.
