1. Open the engine hood of your BMW X5.
2. Look for a black plastic cover in the left corner near the windshield washer fluid reservoir and the brake fluid reservoir.
3. Remove the plastic cover by hand (it might just lift out without using too much force or you might need to slide two long flat bladed tools down to release the two black locking tabs).
4. You will now see the vehicle's main and auxiliary 12V vehicle batteries.
