Back in 2016 when the Hyundai IONIQ first launched, it was the first car in the world to offer separate hybrid, full electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains within one body type.

A popular car from the start this electric car is available to lease for under £300 a month and with the additional tax benefits of driving electric, it’s an ideal company car choice too.

It’s not just us that are fans of this EV, the IONIQ electric won the FleetNews 2017 award for Best Plug-in Car.

The IONIQ electric premium comes packed with features, including a wireless phone charging pad, adjustable regenerative braking, and an 8” full-colour touchscreen with Sat Nav. It’s heated driver and passenger seats and steering wheel will keep you warm in winter, and also help preserve the car’s cold weather range by reducing the need for fan heating.

RANGE

With a 28kW battery, the IONIQ’s 119bhp electric motor offers around 140 miles of ‘real world’ range per charge (officially 174 miles NEDC). Hyundai have excellent battery management technology, and the IONIQ’s 140 mile range is impressive for a 28kW battery.

CHARGING

The IONIQ charge port is on the off-side rear 3/4 panel. This electric vehicle, like most new EVs uses the CCS charging standard. The top portion of the inlet is for the Type 2 connector, which is used when charging at home or at public slow and fast AC points. The lower section beneath the Type 2 inlet is used to carry high power during rapid DC charging from a CCS connector.

It’s a great looking mid-sized five door hatchback which offers practicality for a family vehicle. With autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and reversing collision avoidance as standard, the IONIQ has achieved 5-stars on the ANCAP safety rating.
