1. Disconnect the battery from the ATV.
- Turn off the ATV and allow it to cool down.
- Disconnect the negative (black) cable from the battery terminal first, followed by the positive (red) cable.
2. Remove the battery from the ATV.
- Locate the battery hold-down clamp and remove the bolt holding it in place.
- Lift the battery out of the ATV.
3. Clean the battery terminals.
- Use a wire brush to clean the battery terminals and cable ends.
- Remove any corrosion or build-up.
4. Apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to the battery terminals.
- This will help prevent corrosion.
5. Connect the battery charger to the battery.
- Connect the positive (red) charger clamp to the positive (red) battery terminal.
- Connect the negative (black) charger clamp to the negative (black) battery terminal.
6. Turn on the battery charger.
- Set the charger to the correct voltage and amperage for your battery.
- Allow the battery to charge for the recommended time.
7. Disconnect the battery charger from the battery.
- Once the battery is fully charged, disconnect the negative (black) charger clamp first, followed by the positive (red) clamp.
8. Reinstall the battery in the ATV.
- Place the battery back into the ATV and secure it with the hold-down clamp.
9. Reconnect the battery cables to the battery terminals.
- Connect the positive (red) cable first, followed by the negative (black) cable.
10. Start the ATV and let it run for a few minutes.
- This will help circulate the newly charged electricity through the ATV's electrical system.
