Vauxhall’s 100% electric Corsa-e

The new all electric Corsa-e has arrived

This new electric vehicle (EV) from Vauxhall is the first of many zero emission, clean vehicles to come from the manufacturer. Their popular Corsa is now available with an electric powertrain, and joins a growing line-up of affordable electric hatchbacks.

Vauxhall’s Corsa-e comes in 2 trim levels, “SE Nav” and a more premium “Elite Nav” version. Both are well equipped but the Elite variant has some helpful extras like a panoramic rear-view camera and heated front seats and steering wheel to keep you toasty in our frosty UK winter weather.

Corsa-e is identical in to its fuel equivalents, but with the EV benefit of no emissions. You can expect a clean effortless experience driving this EV, and as with all pure electric cars you can look forward to a near silent drive as there is no engine noise.

Most of the other features on the vehicles are what you would expect from a traditional Vauxhall Corsa, however we’re told the Corsa-e feels a touch more spacious than previous models. Its comparable in size and specifications to the Peugeot e208, another new all electric hatchback.

The Corsa-e has 3 driving modes to choose from;

  • Normal
  • Eco – increased range
  • Sport – improved driving dynamics

Range and charging

The new electric Corsa has a 50kWh lithium-ion battery which gives this hatchback a generous real-world range of around 180 miles to a single charge. For more information read our helpful guide: Electric vehicle range – everything you need to know.

Charging the vehicle is even more simple than heading to fuel station with your ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Corsa. In most cases you will just pull up at home, pop open the left side rear charging flap and plug your car in overnight. In the morning you’ll wake up to a a full charged and ready to go EV. When plugging in at home using a standard 7kW wallbox charger, you can expect a full charge to take 8 hours.

If you’re topping up on the go at a 50kW rapid charger then charging from 10 to 80% battery charge will take 53 minutes.
