Step 1: Disconnect the Negative Battery Terminal
- Wear safety goggles and gloves to protect yourself.
- Locate the battery, which is usually located under the seat or in the front compartment of the motorcycle.
- Find the negative battery terminal, which is usually marked with a "-" sign.
- Using the Phillips screwdriver or 12mm socket wrench, loosen and remove the nut or bolt that secures the negative terminal.
- Be careful not to let the negative terminal come into contact with any metal parts, as this could cause a short circuit.
Step 2: Disconnect the Positive Battery Terminal
- Next, locate the positive battery terminal, which is usually marked with a "+" sign.
- Loosen and remove the nut or bolt that secures the positive terminal, using the Phillips screwdriver or 12mm socket wrench.
- Make sure no metal objects touch the positive terminal while it's disconnected.
Step 3: Remove the Old Battery
- Once both terminals are disconnected, you can safely remove the old battery.
- Carefully lift the battery straight up and out of its compartment, taking care not to tilt or spill any electrolyte from the battery.
Step 4: Install the New Battery
- Place the new battery into the battery compartment, ensuring it's positioned correctly.
- Reconnect the positive terminal first by placing the positive terminal under the clamp or nut and tightening it securely.
- Repeat the same process with the negative terminal, making sure it's properly connected.
- Double-check that all the connections are tight and secure.
Step 5: Test the Battery
- Turn the ignition key to the "On" position but don't start the engine.
- Check if the battery indicator light on the instrument panel turns on.
- Now start the motorcycle; the engine should start smoothly without any issues.
- If everything seems to be in order, turn off the ignition and reconnect the seat or close the front compartment.
By following these steps, you can safely change the battery on your Suzuki GZ 250. Remember, always consult the motorcycle's owner's manual or service guide for specific instructions related to your motorcycle model before performing any maintenance tasks.
