Ensure Engine Is Off:
Make sure the motorcycle is turned off and in the "Off" position.
Locate Battery Terminals:
Identify the positive and negative terminals on both the motorcycle and the truck batteries.
Connect Positive Terminals:
Using the jumper cables, connect the positive terminals of both batteries first.
Connect Negative Terminal:
Then, connect one end of the negative jumper cable to the negative terminal of the truck battery and the other end to an unpainted metal surface on the motorcycle frame, avoiding any live electrical components.
Start Truck Engine:
Start the truck engine and let it run for a few minutes. This allows the truck battery to provide some charge to the motorcycle battery.
Attempt Starting:
Try starting the motorcycle engine. If it starts successfully, keep it running for a few minutes to recharge the battery.
Remove Cables:
Once the motorcycle is running, remove the jumper cables in the reverse order you connected them: First the negative, then the positive.
It's important to note that jump starting a motorcycle with a truck battery should be a temporary solution. If your motorcycle battery is consistently drained or won't hold a charge, you may need to have it replaced.
