Tools Needed
- Socket wrench set
- Wrench set
- Pliers
- Flat-head screwdriver
- New auxiliary drive belt
Instructions
1. Locate the auxiliary drive belt. It is located on the front of the engine, and it runs from the crankshaft pulley to the alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor.
2. Loosen the tensioner pulley. The tensioner pulley is located on the side of the engine, near the crankshaft pulley. Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolt that holds the tensioner pulley in place.
3. Remove the old belt. Once the tensioner pulley is loose, you can remove the old belt by slipping it off of the pulleys.
4. Install the new belt. Start by slipping the new belt over the crankshaft pulley. Then, work your way around the engine, slipping the belt over the other pulleys. Make sure that the belt is seated properly in all of the pulleys.
5. Tighten the tensioner pulley. Once the belt is installed, you can tighten the tensioner pulley. Use a socket wrench to tighten the bolt that holds the tensioner pulley in place.
6. Double check. Make sure the belt is properly tensioned and seated correctly. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations. If you hear anything unusual, stop the engine and inspect the belt.
