1. Make sure that the car is in park and the engine is off.
2. Locate the hood release lever inside the car. It is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side. In the S500, it is usually located underneath the steering wheel, to the left of the brake pedal.
3. Pull the hood release lever. This will release the hood latch.
4. Locate the hood latch on the front of the car. It is usually located in the center of the hood, just above the grille.
5. Press the hood latch with one hand while lifting the hood with the other hand.
6. The hood will rise up and stop in place.
7. To close the hood, simply lower it until it clicks shut.
